Growing up in southern Maine is something that I will always cherish. The summers are short, the winters are long, spring and fall come and go way too fast. Regardless, all of the seasons are just amazing and beautiful. I’ve had the fortunate opportunity to travel across the country on several occasions and have found many beautiful areas, from Sedona, Arizona to the beaches in southern California and everywhere in between. I’m not sure if it’s because I grew up here, but it would just be very hard to move away from the beauty that is Maine.
If you are ‘from away’, as most Mainer’s would say, then I encourage you to visit Maine at least once in your life. You have to check out Acadia though to get a great feel for the beauty. The people are friendly, for the most part, and don’t mind helping guide a tourist in the right direction – even if those directions include four rights to get to where you’re headed.
So when it came to deciding where to base our web design company, there really were no other options than Maine. Although we have amazing clients across the country and even in Canada, the majority of our web design clients are located right here, in Maine. The cliental tends to be exactly who we love to deal with – small businesses. Landscapers, day cares, consultants – people who are making a dream a reality by creating a small business. Don’t get me wrong, we deal with larger companies as well, but there’s something to be said for starting out and running your own business. What starts out as a lawnmower in the back of your pickup, and turns into multiple trucks, employees and year round contracts. These are the kind of people that live in southern Maine, and it’s why I love it. People who understand that marketing their business is important, people who have put a lot of sweat equity into their business to make it succeed. For those of you ‘from away’, let me tell you again that our summers (money making season) are short, and the winters are long. Mainer’s have to be creative in order to make money year round, and that’s where the ingenuity comes in.
