When we left off, we reviewed some of the initial sections in your Yoast SEO for WordPress plugin. Today, we’re going to pick up with the “Other” section under “Titles & Metas.”
Other
In the last area under “Titles & Metas,” you’ll be able to alter templates for title, meta description, and meta robots for your Author Archives, Date archives, search pages, and 404 pages.
We recommend leaving all of these settings to the “as is” default Yoast settings. Typically, there won’t be a need to alter them unless you have good reason to.
Social
Next, we’re going to move on to the Social section in Yoast. It’s well worth tying all of your social media accounts into the Yoast plugin, as it will only help your search engine results in the long run.
In this area, you’re able to change settings for Facebook. By hooking up your information (as an admin at the top of this page), you’ll be able to access your Insights via Facebook and make them that much more powerful. This is helpful to see who clicks through to your website.
You can input other Frontpage settings here for Facebook to include in Open Graph data (which helps with overall Facebook usability). If you have your Facebook profile hard coded (or designed) into your site, you won’t need to worry about this.
The Twitter section also includes social media meta data on your site. Go ahead and enter all of your information here.
Google+
Last but not least, you have Google+. You can identify authorship, but may not want to if you have multiple authors like we do on this blog. You can also link to your Google+ profile page for your business.
That’s all for social media; next time we talk about Yoast we’ll cover the Sitemaps section.
