Own a Maine business? You Should Be at WordCamp Portland, ME 2017

Maine is one of our favorite places in the world, but let’s admit it – owning and growing a Maine business can be tough. Resources are few and far between, and this includes local opportunities to share new skills.

What if we were to tell you there’s an amazing resource that’s passed right under your radar each year? They’re called WordCamps.

What is a WordCamp?

WordCamps are business conferences with a twist. They are fun, friendly, and low-key.

Each WordCamp (they are held all over the world) focuses on a variety of WordPress related topics. WordPress is an open source blogging and content management system used to create 27% of websites. What makes WordPress unique, is that it’s a community-driven project with world wide contributors.

It’s not just for geeks.

You may be wondering why you, a business owner, would want to attend a conference hosted by an online publishing platform. The name ‘WordCamp’ admittedly sounds a bit nerdy.. Nevertheless, you don’t have to be fluent in geek speak or be a web developer to find value.

Passing through the crowds at WordCamp in Portland, you’ll find a mixed bag of attendees. There are advanced coders with decades of experience chatting with week-old entrepreneurs working to launch their first website.
